Each year, tens of millions of Americans find themselves, their loved ones, or their fellow citizens in peril – many times facing matters of life and death. In these desperate moments, the words "9-1-1, what is your emergency?” are often the first sign of hope.

Chances are that you or someone you know has benefited from the life saving services dispatched by our nation’s 9-1-1 telecommunicators. When seconds count, these selfless public servants are the vital link between the mugging victim and the police , the heart attack victim and EMS, the child in the smoke filled room and the fire department.

Now, it’s our turn to help those who help so many.

The NENA Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, was established to develop education and training programs that will equip 9-1-1 call takers with the tools they need to better serve our communities. When you support the Friends of 9-1-1™, you enable the NENA Foundation to carry out activities including:

  • The creation and implementation of nationwide standards for the training and certification of 9-1-1 telecommunicators, ensuring that Americans are provided with the same first-class service from coast-to-coast
  • 9-1-1 career training programs for America’s veterans, high school, junior college, and vocational students, and other underserved or underemployed populations
  • Scholarships, continuing education, and career advancement opportunities for 9-1-1 professionals
  • Public awareness campaigns designed to educate and inform consumers about access to, and usage of, the 9-1-1 system as public safety technologies and consumer communications products evolve
Won’t you become a Friend of 9-1-1™ and help those who answer the millions of 9-1-1 calls placed every year?
