MASTER GLOSSARY

This Committee’s purpose is to provide resources and share information regarding 9-1-1 education, including public education and PSAP training, in various forms.  The principal objective of this committee is to develop consistent materials and messages as an informational resource for the emergency communications community. The PSAP training function of this committee also works closely with other NENA Committees to identify and create training needed; and makes recommendations to the NENA Educational Advisory Board on topics and issues that may benefit from development of a NENA education course.  The committee provides resources and expertise for the NENA staff, the Board, and other organizations for certain projects, taskforces, etc. involving 9-1-1 related communications, marketing, and training.

  • Work Groups
    • NG9-1-1 Education & Training, Chair Sherri Griffith Powell:  
      This work group’s purpose is to provide resources and share information regarding 9-1-1 education, including public education and PSAP training, in various forms.  The principal objective of this committee is to develop consistent materials and messages as an informational resource for the emergency communications community. The PSAP training function of this committee also works closely with other NENA Committees to identify and create training needed; and makes recommendations to the EAB on topics and issues that may benefit from development of a NENA education course.  This group provides resources and expertise for the NENA staff, the Board, and other organizations for certain projects, taskforces, etc. involving 9-1-1 related communications, marketing, and training.

    • Educational Campaign for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Community, Chair Kayreen Lum:  
      This working group is creating materials to teach citizens what ways they have available to reach 9-1-1 and what may be the benefits and draw backs of their chosen method. All methods including TTY, VRS, Mobile Relay and Web Relay and Captioned telephones are addressed. Materials such as PowerPoints, Fliers and other handouts, as well as videos are possible outcomes of this group. This group will also begin to address NG911 and how the Deaf and Hard of Hearing may be impacted.
