Tuesday Program Detail |
Welcome & Keynote Address9:00 - 10:00 AMThe conference begins with opening remarks and an important keynote address, this year being delivered by Timothy Trainor, Chief of the Geography Division at the United States Census Bureau. Timothy Trainor is Chief of the Geography Division of the U.S. Census Bureau. As the Census Bureau’s chief geographer, he is responsible for directing all aspects of the division’s work related to development and implementation of geographic and cartographic activities necessary to support the Census Bureau’s data collection, processing, tabulation, and dissemination programs for the United States and its territories. Break with Exhibitors The Exhibitors will welcome attendees at 10 AM and will be available for questions and demonstrations until 5:30 PM today. Breakout Sessions Breakout sessions are typically two or more individual presentations or panel discussions scheduled concurrently. Conference attendees may choose which session to attend based on their own personal interests. There is no need to pre-register for individual breakout sessions. Conference Luncheon Attendees will discuss hot topics (or simply network) during lunch today, hosted by the conference. Visit with exhibitors while enjoying a dessert break until 1:30 PM. Breakout Sessions IGNITE SESSION You’ve probably heard about Ignite presentations (or Lightning Talks). Ignite presentations are typically limited to 5 to 7 minutes (20 slides auto-advanced at 15–20 seconds each). Debuting at last year's conference, and very well-received... we had to do it again! Short but sweet, and usually quite entertaining! A perfect opportunity to learn about a wide variety of topics, quickly and informally. If interested in participating as an Ignite presenter, contact Pat Francis with your proposed topic and brief description. NETWORKING RECEPTION Enjoy some refreshments while visiting with our conference sponsors and planning your night on the town in Memphis! |
