It is with great sadness that NENA announces the passing of Roger Richardson, the association's first President. Roger was a devoted public servant and a true leader in the 9-1-1 industry. In addition his instrumental role in NENA's formative years, Roger played a key part in the launch of the nation's first ever E9-1-1 system in Orange County, FL in 1980. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Karen, and their children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed, but his friendship, contributions, and legacy will endure and not be forgotten.

I was honored to represent NENA at the service last night for Roger in Altamonte Springs, and to present his widow, Karen, with a Past President pin on behalf of Buster and the Executive Board. His family was very appreciative of our thoughtfulness, the beautiful flowers sent by "The NENA Family", and shared that Roger thoroughly enjoyed reading our magazine and reminiscing. He will surely be missed. Steve O'Conor President, 2010-2011
