Shell-Pennzoil and Driver Joey Logano Team Up with “Friends of 9-1-1”

America’s hard-working 9-1-1 professionals are being honored this weekend by one of NASCAR’s leading racing teams.

On Sunday March 2, Team Penske’s No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion will carry a “Friends of 9-1-1” decal during “The Profit on CNBC 500, Presented by Small Business Fueling America,” at Phoenix International Raceway.  A group of 9-1-1 professionals will get the chance to tour the Team Penske pit and meet the car’s talented driver, Joey Logano, who is currently ranked #11 in the Sprint Cup standings.

“I’m honored to feature the Friends of 9-1-1 program on my car during the race on Sunday,” said Logano. “9-1-1 professionals help keep Americans safe every day, and I hope folks in the stands and watching at home will be inspired to join me in saying ‘thank you’ to these unsung heroes of emergency response.”

Established in 2013 by NENA, Friends of 9-1-1 develops scholarships, continuing education opportunities, and wellness programs for America's 9-1-1 professionals, who are charged with answering more than 250 million 9-1-1 calls every year.

“It’s vitally important that 9-1-1 call takers are well equipped to serve our communities, and that means providing them with the resources they need to stay healthy and well trained in the face of rapidly changing technology,” said NENA President Bernard “Buster” Brown of Danville, Virginia. “NENA is so thankful to Shell Pipeline and Team Penske for this amazing opportunity to get the word out and encourage people to visit and pledge their support.”

“All of us at Shell Pipeline are grateful for our strong working relationship with NENA,” said Gweneyette Broussard, Senior Legislative and Regulatory Representative. “NENA’s PIPE Database is a useful safety resource for Shell Pipeline and every pipeline operator across North America. Beyond that, NENA does outstanding work every day to promote the best possible emergency response. We’re just glad to be able to give back to those who work so hard for all of us.”

The Profit on CNBC 500 is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The race will kick off at 3:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. MT.
