Arizona’s State 9-1-1 Administrator, Barbara A. Jaeger, ENP, Begins Term as NENA President

A new NENA Executive Board took office during the Installation Banquet & Gala at the NENA 2012 Conference & Expo earlier this month in Long Beach, CA. Barbara A. Jaeger, ENP was sworn in as President, while Bernard Brown, ENP became 1st Vice President and Christy Williams, ENP assumed the office of 2nd Vice President.

After the ceremony, Ms. Jaeger addressed the attendees and put forward her goals for the coming year. Most notably, she spoke about the critical role the association continues to play in enabling the transition to Next Generation 9-1-1. "At NENA, we must do whatever we can to educate policy makers and legislators on the importance of NG9-1-1 and the national commitment that will be required to build and maintain these networks,” she said.

"Our job is to make sure both Congress and the President… are committed to funding and deploying NG9-1-1,” Ms. Jaeger continued. "We will work with our nation’s leaders to achieve what is in the best interest of all Americans - especially the nearly 1 million people that reach out to 9-1-1 every day.”

Ms. Jaeger has worked in Public Safety Communications for almost 40 years, and she is currently the State of Arizona 9-1-1 Administrator. Having held that position since 1993, she manages a more than $20 million budget and has oversight responsibilities for 85 9-1-1 Centers. She is also the representative for Arizona to the National Association of State 9-1-1 Administrators (NASNA).

Ms. Jaeger has spent more than two decades involved in numerous national and chapter association activities. She has served on the NENA Executive Board for the past six years, first as Western Regional Director and then as a member of the Executive Committee. Previously, she participated in the development of the NENA Model Legislation E9-1-1 for Multi-Line Telephone Systems Document and served as President of the NENA Institute Board. She was the Arizona NENA Chapter President twice, first from 1993-1994 and again from 2001-2002.

Seven other Executive Board members were sworn in at the Conference: Past President Rick Galway, ENP; Northeastern Region Director Ed Marecki, ENP; North Central Region Director Bob Currier, ENP; Southeastern Region Director Linda Draughn-Woloski, ENP; Canadian Region Director Nancy Banks, ENP; Western Region Director Chip Yarborough, ENP; and Private Sector Director Ron Bloom, ENP.
